Our Team of Lions Randy Bates, Scott McFarlane, Kelly Hart and Nicole Garon Did an excellent job on October 20th and our builders went out again a couple of weeks ago to help with the reconstruction of the Bracebridge Lions Cabin at Camp Dorset Dialysis Camp. They say pictures say 1000 words, and these pictures are evidence of the effort and hard work that our Lions put into making our community a better place. Thank you Team Dorset!
Bracebridge Lions are proud to help out Lions Camp Dorset, which provides a summer respite for dialysis patients in Ontario. A number of years ago, we proudly built cottage # 8 as our contribution to this camp and the time had come for some much needed upgrades, including replacing the foundation, new insulation, windows and bathroom. We are working to provide some financial assistance for these upgrades and have a team from our club heading out to Camp Dorset on the 20th of October to help out with general maintenance at the camp.
Lion Lyle Cathcart was honoured by the Canadian Government for making a difference in his community. Our local Cogeco station did a special, highlighting how much he contributes, not only to the Bracebridge Lions Club, but to the Shriners and his community. We were honoured to recently award him his pin for 65 Years of Perfect Attendance.
Bracebridge Lions were out in full force on Sunday May 28th giving back to the community! In support of the Annual Annie Williams Picnic in the Park and the YWCA “Walk a Mile in Her Shoes”, our club purchased, BBQ’d and served over 570 free Hot Dogs for attendees. We worked with the Rotary Club of Bracebridge, the Rotary Club of Bracebridge-Muskoka Lakes, Town of Bracebridge and the YWCA to organize this free event. Members also helped direct traffic and parking and donated drinks, balloons and equipment! There was entertainment, activities, cake and ice cream, water, Paddle Club demonstrations, Fire Trucks, EMS, and the Lakeland Lift Truck. Well done team!
On Thursday May 25th we were pleased to have as our guests Robert and his Dog Guide Sam, as we did a formal presentation with Benefactor Brock Napier for his generous donation through the club for his Dog Guide. Brock’s donation has make a huge difference in Robert’s life and he has pledged to continue helping others in Muskoka who are in need of a Dog Guide to improve their lives. On behalf of the club, Thank you Brock!
